The New Mercedes-Benz EQB vs. The Competition

A Burbank Masterpiece Outclassing the Competition: The Mercedes-Benz EQB

The age of sustainability is here, and Mercedes-Benz does it again by blending environmental awareness with peak drivability and refined, elegant looks. No, this legendary manufacturer has little need to prove itself to the public; the notoriety is cemented into the sheer amount of purpose that the manufacturer's engineers put behind their gorgeous vehicles.

However, with the release of the Mercedes-Benz EQB, a compact and fully electric mid-sized SUV. Being one of the newest vehicles in the comprehensive Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle line-up, competition between the manufacturer and other leading brands remains fierce. Let's detail how the EQB will outclass its competitors.

Exterior

The Mercedes-Benz EQB blends the familiar, distinctive features of the luxury brand uniquely. Sporting a particularly edgy design, the tall SUV is outlined with refined curves. On the roads of Glendale, CA, onlookers are sure to notice the continuous light strip on the vehicle's front and rear - a feature included with all Mercedes-Benz EQ models. Moreover, the distinctive central star, a typical inclusion, brings an even higher definition of luxury to this vehicle.

Now, how might this compare to the Audi e-tron? The e-tron features similarly impressive lights on the rear of the vehicle, but its bulky exterior pales in comparison to the sophisticated features on the body of the EQB. Drivers of the e-tron might be familiar with the aerodynamic design present, making the vehicle appear smooth. While conceptually brilliant, the e-tron is missing the assertive, demanding presence that the EQB illuminates.

Interior

Mercedes-Benz vehicles represent the pinnacle of luxury, and the EQB is no stranger to this. Including two standard rows of seats and an optional third, driving back comfortably from Los Angeles is a calming, cathartic experience. Naturally impressing with a function-oriented greenhouse and ornate features such as rose gold trim, the EQB is outmatched.

The Volvo XC40, for example, sports a large interior with amenities such as heated seats and a touch-screen infotainment system. However, it largely lacks sophistication and design. The practicality of the Volvo XC40 is apparent, as the vehicle seems to place most of its technological savviness in the engine and drive of its car. This is understandable. However, Mercedes-Benz brings the best of both worlds to the horizon.

Performance

The EQB 300, the debut model, will feature a 225 horsepower electric motor and 288 pound-feet of torque. The vehicle shares chassis components with the familiar GLB; however, the EQB is heavier and feels faster due to the design.

Where the Tesla Model Y wins in acceleration, going from zero to 60 in as little as 3.5 seconds with the Plaid model, the EQB wins in overall practicality. Under the hood of the Model Y sits two independently controlled electric engines, assisting the vehicle with greater torque control. The additional torque allows the car to handle itself off-road and in various capacities.

The shared chassis components, influenced by the GLB, give the EQB the feel of a much more powerful car. Although Mercedes-Benz has yet to provide many details regarding the overall drivability of its vehicle, we are excited to see how the brand new Mercedes-Benz EQB compares.
