What it takes to even be considered for MB Certified Pre-Owned status
As good as the "average" pre-owned Mercedes-Benz may be, only a few are qualified for our Certified Pre-Owned consideration set. They must be less than six years old and they must have less than 75,000 miles. In addition, they must have a maintenance history that meets our standards and they must acquit themselves well on an official CARFAX® Vehicle History Report. In other words, they must be exceptional.
Just getting through the initial hoops isn't enough: Now comes the hard part
Once a high-quality pre-owned Mercedes-Benz has checked the first set of boxes, there are a lot more boxes ahead. A potential Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Mercedes must then pass our rigorous 165-point inspection. We start with the outside, ensuring that the overall structural integrity and appearance live up to our standards. We then move inside and do a thorough review of the seat belts, the flooring, finishes and more.
After that we check internal mechanical and electrical systems including the engine, transmission, filters and fluids. To keep passing the inspection, the tires must be in good enough condition for a CPO Mercedes-Benz model. Any recall action must be completed and standard services must be performed before a vehicle is ready for prime time in our CPO inventory.
We're still not done evaluating: Next comes the road test
We believe there's no substitute for driving a potential CPO Mercedes-Benz yourself, so that's what we do. Our Mercedes-Benz factory-trained technicians check the performance of the steering, the drive shaft, the brakes and suspension along with the overall quality of the ride. We evaluate vibration and noise levels to make sure your driving experience is at the high level you expect. After all, it's not just a pre-owned car: It's a Mercedes-Benz.
Once it's designated Mercedes-Benz CPO, it gets extra warranty coverage
For Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz models, the vehicle is still covered by whatever remains of the vehicle's 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. When that expires, the MB Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty becomes effective. That gives your Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz additional warranty coverage for up to another 12 months with unlimited miles wherever you drive around Burbank or Los Angeles.
