If you're looking for a new car and only the finest materials and latest technologies will suffice, allow Calstar Motors to tell you a little more about the recently redesigned and revamped Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class vs. Audi A8
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class distinguishes itself next to the Audi A8 in a number of ways. Most notably, the A8 isn't available in any customizable body styles the way the S-Class is. Strictly a sedan-style car, the A8 is smaller and has less room for both your cargo and your passengers than the S-Class. For example,:
- The S-Class sedan has more cargo space in its trunk than the Audi A8.
- The S-Class gives you and your front seat passenger three inches of extra headroom and a little more legroom than the Audi.
- The Mercedes-Benz sedan S-Class also has more legroom, headroom, and shoulder room in the backseat than the Audi A8.
- For its 2023 model year, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class can be had with an innovative new plug-in hybrid powertrain. With this new Mercedes-Benz S 580e, you'll have the ability to travel up to 46 miles on electric power alone before the gasoline-powered engine seamlessly kicks in. You won't find such plug-in hybrid capabilities on the new Audi A8.
- While both the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8 are powerful options, the former is considerably quicker. In fact, when you pit both in a head to head sprint from 0 to 60 mph, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class reaches the mark in just 4.7 seconds, while the Audi A8 comes in at 5.6 seconds.
- One of our favorite features about the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is its innovative Biometric Authentication system. With just your fingerprint, you can adjust many of the settings of your vehicle to your exacting specifications, including climate control, seat and steering wheel position, and even the ambient interior LED lighting. While the Audi A8 has driver's seat memory settings, you won't find anything as sophisticated as the biometric system on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class on its equipment list.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class vs. BMW 7 Series
As with the side-by-side comparison above, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class also stands out next to the BMW 7 Series with its customization and style options. The 7 Series is strictly a sedan, and it has less interior space in its cabin for you and your passengers to stretch out in, including less legroom, headroom, and shoulder room in both rows. Additionally, the 7 Series standard tech features and customizations can't compete with the incredible roster that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class delivers, a list which includes:
- A standard 12.8-inch touchscreen interface for the infotainment system (compared to just 10.25 inches for the 7 Series).
- Safety features that combine the latest in tech and engineering, including a groundbreaking system which will raise the body of the S-Class up to three inches to mitigate the impact of an impending collision (the BMW doesn't have any features this advanced in its roster).
- The highest quality materials are a highlight of every Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which get premium leather upholstery and seats that can have 10-way massage, ventilation, and heat. BMW has a similar feature available, but it's only available on the priciest top-level trim for the 7 Series model line.
- While the new BMW 7 Series can be had in 12 distinct paint schemes, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class recently expanded its paint portfolio for the 2023 model year, offering up to 21 different luxe paint schemes to select from.
- For safety-conscious La Crescenta-Montrose shoppers, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class offers front seat-style airbags for rear seat passengers, making it one of the best executive luxury cars out there for crash preparedness. You won't find such safety innovations on the new BMW 7 Series.
- On the driver-assistance front, the new BMW 7 Series offers a meager list of standard aids, with just forward collision waring, automatic braking, blind-spot warning, and automated parking on its equipment list. By comparison, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class boasts a comprehensive list of 11 standard driver assistance technologies, making it better equipped than its rival overall.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class vs. the Lexus LS
Whereas the S-Class gives drivers a menu of options from which to choose, including various body styles and trim levels, the Lexus LS does not. Only available as a sedan and only available as a single-trim model, the LS model has a similar number of standard and optional features as the S-Class, but it has less power and a cramped interior space. For example,:
- The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has more than five inches of extra headroom in the front, and more than two inches for backseat passengers.
- Seating three adults side-by-side in the backseat is always easier with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which has three inches of extra shoulder room than the LS, and four inches of extra legroom.
- With the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, expect a boost of power when you accelerate, thanks to its impressive 496-horsepower V8 engine with 516 pound-feet of torque. Comparatively, the Lexus has 416 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque from a standard, turbocharged V6 engine.
- With standard Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class boasts excellent handling and commanding road presence, whether you're facing inclement weather or taking on winding roads around Glendale, CA at speed. By comparison, the Lexus LS only as rear-wheel drive on its standard equipment list, so the confidence and control of all-wheel drive is only available to shoppers who're willing to pay extra.
- With a standard panoramic sunroof, the cabin of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class feels upscale and airy. By comparison, the new Lexus LS only offers a smaller standard sunroof, so its cabin feels considerably more cramped than its Mercedes-Benz rival.
- For audiophiles on the move in Los Angeles, the standard 15-speaker Burmester sound system on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class provides clear and crisp high-fidelity audio for everything from symphonies to the latest podcasts and streaming music. By comparison, the 12-speaker sound system on the new Lexus LC simply doesn't measure up.
